Hi,
Today's tutorial is about how to fix Cities.exe has stopped working for Cities Skylines.
A lot of you have been complaining that when you load the map or as you launch the game, you get an immediate windows saying cities.exe has stopped working, this is very annoying. After a lot of research, I was able to fix this with trial and run method.
I've listed down below few steps, which will fix this, you should give it a try.
1.Open Steam - Click on Library - rightclick Cities:Skylines - Properties
2. On General Tab - Set Launch options
3. Enter the command as -force-d3d9
Cities Skylines uses directx 9 instead of 11 and 12 from windows 10.
Most of your latest GPU will be able to run this game smoothly.
If you are still facing the issue, you should go to your steam workshop and unsubscribe to the mods and start the game and check if it works.
Please note that Windows 10 64bit will give you a better performance in terms of FPS than windows 7 or 8.
